Adsorption Polymer
A porous material based on 2,6-diphenylene oxide provides a high surface area for trapping organic vapors during food safety testing. Using tenax ta sorbent as a dry food simulant allows for the capture of a wide range of semi-volatile substances from paper packaging. This resin does not contribute its own impurities to the chemical analysis.
Thermal Stability
The polymer maintains its physical structure and adsorption capacity even when heated to temperatures required for accelerated migration studies. Because tenax ta sorbent has a very low affinity for water, it remains effective even in humid environments that would saturate other adsorbents. This property makes it ideal for testing materials intended for microwave or oven use where steam might be present during the heating cycle and could otherwise interfere with the capture of target analytes like mineral oils or plasticizers which are the focus of current safety protocols.
Capture Capability
Captured molecules are easily removed through thermal desorption or solvent extraction for subsequent measurement. The chemical inertness of tenax ta sorbent ensures that the analytes do not react or break down while sitting on the polymer surface. It is the standard medium for validating the migration of mineral oils into dry food products.
