Composite Profile
Double-wall corrugated board consisting of two distinct micro-flute profiles provides a high-density structure that balances structural resistance with a smooth exterior finish. Packaging designers select eb flute for high-value consumer goods that require high-resolution graphics and sturdy protection. The thin profile of the combined medium ensures that the overall thickness remains below five millimeters.
This compactness allows for efficient palletization and storage of finished cartons.
Printing Surface
Flexographic and lithographic printing processes run more efficiently because the small wave structure of the eb flute prevents the washboard effect on the outer linerboard. When pressure is applied during the ink transfer, the dense micro-flutes support the liner evenly, allowing for clean half-tone images and crisp text. This surface uniformity eliminates the need for heavy, expensive solid boards.
It delivers high-end retail packaging at a lower weight.
Production Requirement
Manufacturing this specific dual-profile grade requires precise temperature control and tension balance on the corrugator to avoid sheet warp. If the moisture levels in the two fluting mediums do not match, the unequal contraction of the cooling paperboard causes the combined sheet to curl, making high-speed automatic die-cutting impossible. This defect stops the finishing line and increases waste rates.
Therefore, operators monitor the pre-heater rolls continuously to maintain stable moisture distribution across the web, ensuring that the sheet remains perfectly flat during the cooling phase.
