Planographic Transfer
Commercial printing process transfers paste ink from chemical plate surfaces onto rubber blankets before transfer to individual paper sheets. Continuous mechanical grippers transport separate substrate sheets through sequential printing units under high pressure. Operating sheetfed offset printing equipment produces high-resolution packaging, folding cartons, and commercial print products on rigid paperboard.
Press configurations range from single-color units to multi-unit inline presses with coating capabilities.
Lithographic Balance
Flat aluminium printing plates rely on chemical differentiation between oleophilic image areas and hydrophilic non-image zones. Fountain solution dampens non-image plate regions, repelling oil-based ink while image areas accept ink films. The intermediate rubber blanket cylinder receives ink from the plate cylinder and compresses it onto incoming paper sheets.
Sheet registration systems align paper edges precisely before entry into the first printing unit. Inline spectrophotometers measure printed color bars on moving sheets, providing real-time ink key adjustment data to press operators. Paperboard caliper variations require dynamic impression cylinder gap adjustments to maintain proper nip contact pressure.
Sheetfed offset printing delivers sharp halftone dot reproduction and consistent solid ink coverage across heavy paperboard packaging substrates.
Feeder Limit
Substrate dimensional instability caused by ambient moisture shifts generates misregistration across multi-color print units. Heavy paperboard grades restrict maximum press operating speeds, reducing hourly sheet throughput rates. Static electricity accumulation on dry sheets causes double-sheet feeds, tripping automatic press interlocks.
