Adjustable Frame
Precision mechanical frame assemblies hold hot foil stamping or embossing dies securely in place while accommodating thermal dimensional changes during press operation. Heated die plates expand significantly as operational temperatures reach one hundred to one hundred sixty degrees Celsius on flatbed converting presses. A thermal expansion chase utilizes spring-loaded clamping blocks, sliding keyways, or micrometer adjustments to maintain accurate die register without buckling die plates or damaging press beds.
The device governs die mounting in high-speed foil stamping machinery, stopping short of cold foil application units or rotary magnetic plate cylinders.
Registration Control
Differential thermal expansion between steel mounting frames and brass or copper dies creates register drift during warm-up phases. Internal expansion joints and spring mechanisms absorb localized linear growth, preventing die plate deformation across multi-up carton layouts. Fine-thread adjustment screws allow press operators to correct image position within fractions of a millimetre without relieving total chase mounting tension.
Constant thermal control prevents hot die warping, securing consistent foil release and uniform embossing depth across folding carton blanks. Proper clearance allowances prevent binding between moving chase components at peak operating temperatures.
Mechanical Boundary
Excessive clamping force on cold die plates restricts natural thermal growth, leading to sheared mounting pins or surface distortion. Controlled spring tension maintains steady mechanical pressure through variable temperature ranges.
