Fabrication System
Industrial machinery configuration designed to transform flat web materials into finished flexible packaging containers. Pouch converting line components typically include unwind stands, forming collars, tension controls and sealing stations. The system handles multiple layers of plastic and paper to create a laminated structure.
It produces various formats such as stand-up pouches, sachets, pillow bags and side-gusseted bags.
Process Sequence
Web tension control is the necessary step to ensure that the different material layers align perfectly. A pouch converting line uses heat or ultrasonic energy to create the structural seals along the edges of the container. After the seals are formed, the material passes through a cutting station where individual units are separated from the continuous web.
Some lines include fitment applicators to add spouts or zippers during the same pass. Sensors monitor the registration of the print to the fold line at every station.
Operational Output
Throughput and seal integrity define the success of the manufacturing run. Variations in the coefficient of friction or the thickness of the film can lead to tracking issues on the pouch converting line. Precise temperature control is necessary to melt the sealant layers without damaging the outer print surface.
Modern systems feature rapid changeover capabilities to accommodate different pouch sizes and shapes with minimal downtime. These machines are often synchronized with filling equipment in high volume food and medical packaging operations.
