Fibre Composition
Heavy-duty packaging liners made from virgin wood fibres are designed to provide maximum strength and moisture resistance for corrugated boxes. Uncoated kraft liner is produced using the sulphate pulping process from softwood tree species, resulting in long, unbleached fibres that form a dense, interlocked sheet. This natural brown paperboard is not coated with clay or pigments, maintaining its natural texture and high friction coefficient.
It is used as the face sheet in demanding packaging applications such as agricultural boxes and heavy industrial shipping cartons.
Strength Characteristic
Extreme mechanical durability and puncture resistance are the defining features of this virgin paperboard grade. Uncoated kraft liner has higher wet-strength and burst resistance than recycled containerboard, making it suitable for humid or cold-chain transport. The long fibres distribute mechanical stress evenly across the sheet, preventing tearing along creases and score lines.
This high performance ensures that the structural integrity of the box is maintained under heavy stacks.
Printing Performance
The high absorption of the uncoated surface requires print ink formulations with high pigment loads to ensure sharp print results. Flexographic printing is the standard method used to apply logos and barcodes to these rustic boards. This substrate delivers a natural appearance that appeals to brands.
