Structural Layer
Recycled cartonboard engineered with a multi-ply construction and a gray backside offers a cost-effective solution for non-contact food and industrial packaging. This gd2 paperboard consists of a coated top layer of bleached chemical pulp, followed by middle and back layers made from recycled paper and board fibres. The recycled core provides bulk and stiffness while minimizing the carbon footprint and material cost of the carton.
It is graded by weight, typically ranging from two hundred and fifty to four hundred and fifty grams per square metre, making it suitable for folding cartons that do not require a high-brightness reverse side.
Print Finish
The double-coated white top surface ensures excellent ink receptivity and gloss during offset lithography or flexographic printing. This coating layer allows gd2 paperboard to achieve sharp halftone images and vibrant brand graphics on the primary face of the packaging. It masks the dark, recycled fibres underneath, preventing gray show-through and providing a smooth surface for varnish applications.
Converting Application
Stiffness and scoring performance of the board enable efficient high-speed folding on automated converting lines. The material creases and folds without cracking along the score lines, ensuring clean carton edges and structural stability. This makes the grade popular for dry food boxes or household goods.
