Material Classification
Multilayer folding boxboard with a white pigmented top side and a manila or cream back provides a versatile substrate for retail packaging. The gc2 fbb substrate consists of mechanical pulp layers sandwiched between bleached chemical pulp outer skins. This construction offers higher bulk and stiffness compared to solid bleached boards of the same weight.
It is a standard choice for pharmaceutical cartons and dry food boxes.
Visual Performance
The coated surface accepts high resolution offset lithography and ultraviolet inks with excellent colour reproduction. While the gc2 fbb substrate has a non-white reverse side, the top coating ensures a smooth and bright finish for brand graphics. It provides sufficient opacity to prevent the contents of the package from showing through the board.
Converting Advantage
Structural rigidity allows for clean die cutting and reliable performance on high speed filling lines. A gc2 fbb substrate maintains its shape and protects the product throughout the supply chain. Because of the mechanical pulp core, the board is more cost effective than premium bleached grades while still offering the required strength for small to medium sized cartons.
It handles creasing well without cracking the outer fibres. The combination of layers provides a balanced sheet that resists curling under varying humidity levels.
