Moisture Control
Liquid application systems use centrifugal force to distribute a fine mist of water onto a moving web of paper. The non contact rotor dampening method allows for the precise adjustment of moisture levels without any physical part touching the delicate substrate. This process is essential for preventing the paper from becoming too dry and brittle after it passes through a heated oven.
Spray Distribution
High-speed spinning disks, or rotors, receive a metered flow of water and throw it outward in a uniform pattern across the width of the machine. Because non contact rotor dampening does not use nozzles, it is less likely to suffer from clogs caused by minerals in the water. The amount of liquid applied is controlled by changing the speed of the rotors or the flow rate of the supply pump.
This allows the operator to add exactly the right amount of moisture to stop the paper from curling or cracking. The web remains stable because there is no friction from a brush or a roller to cause a break. This technology is particularly effective on high-speed printing presses where the paper travels at several hundred meters per minute.
Web Stability
Dimensional accuracy is improved when the moisture balance of the sheet is restored quickly after drying. Using non contact rotor dampening prevents the edges of the reel from becoming wavy during storage. The system requires very little maintenance compared to traditional sponge or roller applicators.
