Quality Document
Official documentation delivered by a paper mill with each shipment certifies that the delivered batch of paperboard meets the agreed technical specifications. This document, known as a certificate of analysis, contains the results of laboratory tests performed on samples from the specific production run.
Performance Metric
Physical and optical properties of the paperboard are listed in the report, including basis weight, caliper, moisture content, and brightness. Strength values such as burst index and bending resistance are also recorded because they determine the runnability of the board on high-speed packaging lines. Each of these parameters must fall within the tolerance limits specified in the supply contract.
Supply Chain Guarantee
Receiving departments use this document to approve the unloading of the shipment and to release the material for the converting process. If a roll or pallet fails to match the certified values, the converter can hold the material and initiate a formal quality claim with the supplier. Automated inspection systems often parse this data directly into the database of the converter to track material performance across multiple print runs and packaging lines.
The document provides the traceable link between the raw materials used in the paper machine and the performance of the finished cartonboard.
