Extraction Procedure

The difference between the initial dry mass and the final dry mass reveals the exact weight of the applied layer.
This process is highly accurate and is often used to calibrate online electronic thickness sensors. It ensures that the production line maintains the targeted material deposition over long runs.
Substance Bound
Measuring the moisture content requires heating the specimen in a standardized oven at one hundred and five degrees Celsius until it reaches a constant mass. This protocol must be carried out in a desiccator to prevent the paperboard from reabsorbing moisture from the air. The test does not apply to volatile coatings that evaporate at the drying temperature.
Precision is limited by the sensitivity of the laboratory balance.
